Berichtigungspolitik

Sacharchiv is committed to correcting errors promptly, transparently and with due prominence. This policy explains how we define mistakes, how readers can report them and what happens once a correction is verified.

How do we define a material error?

A material error is a factual inaccuracy that alters the meaning of a news item, misleads readers or misrepresents a source. Typos, misplaced dates or spelling mistakes that do not affect understanding are corrected without a note.

We treat errors in names, figures, quotes, legal facts and statistical data as material. Our fact-checking team, led by Anna Martin, assesses every report against the original source material. If the mistake could reasonably change a reader’s interpretation, we update the article and add a clear correction note.

How can you report an error?

You can report any error by emailing corrections@sacharchiv.de. Please include the article headline, URL, a short description of the mistake and, where possible, the correct information or a supporting source.

We also accept corrections via the general contact address info@sacharchiv.de, but for fastest handling please use the dedicated corrections inbox. You do not need to be a subscriber or registered user to submit a correction. Every report is acknowledged within two working days.

What happens after you report an error?

Your report is logged and assigned to our standards desk, which operates under Anna Martin, our head of fact-checking. She or a member of her team reviews the claim against our archives, original documents and editorial notes.

If the error is confirmed, we publish a correction note at the top of the article explaining what was wrong and what has been changed. The note remains visible for the life of the article. If the error is minor and does not affect the substance, we may amend the text without a note and log the change internally.

What you can expect from us

We aim to respond to every correction request within two working days, and to resolve material errors within five working days. Where an error is serious or involves a named individual, we may also publish a standalone correction notice on our homepage for 24 hours.

Correction notes include the date of update, the nature of the mistake and a link to the original version when archived. We do not remove articles solely because they contain an error; we correct and retain them to preserve editorial accountability. Read more in our Editorial Policy and Fact‑Checking Policy.

Who oversees the corrections process?

Anna Martin, our head of fact-checking, is responsible for the day‑to‑day handling of corrections. She reports directly to Matthias Ziegler, our editor‑in‑chief, who reviews any escalation involving disputed facts or legal concerns.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a correction request, you can escalate to Matthias Ziegler at anders.lindqvist@sacharchiv.de or via the main editorial line. He will personally review the matter and issue a final decision within ten working days. For unresolved disputes, see our Complaints Procedure.

Where can you find our other editorial policies?

All our standards and policies are collected on dedicated pages. Please refer to the Editorial Policy for our overall approach, the Fact‑Checking Policy for our verification methods, and the AI & Automation Policy for how we use digital tools.

We also publish a Sources & Standards page and an Ownership & Funding disclosure to provide full transparency about how Sacharchiv operates.
